Willie Carver
Willie Carver was the son of Halifax-born dyer William Carver and his wife Isabella, who was born in Bradford. He had two brother, Joe Harry and Fred. Sometime before 1911 he married Beatrice, known as Bridget, Hennighan, who was Bradford born of Irish parents. At the time of the 1911 census they were living at 3 Crag Road, with the first two of their four children Charles, aged 2, and Mary, seven months. On 21 September 1917, this appeared in the Shipley Times & Express: Mrs Carver of 41 Kitson Street, Windhill, has received official word that her husband, Pte Willie Carver, was killed instantaneously on 1st September. Pte Carver was 36 years of age. He joined the colours nine months ago being then employed by Garth and Rix, painters and paperhangers, Windhill Bridge. He leaves four children.
