Pte Walter Copley, son of Mr and Mrs J Copley of 10 Moorside, who joined the Northumberland Fusiliers in April 1916, is wounded. After training at Hornsea, he went with his battalion to France the following August and experienced much hard fighting in the Somme and Bullecourt battles. He was also present in the Passchendaele offensive and was wounded in the leg during the fighting on the Menin Road. He is an inmate of a hospital in Edinburgh and is progressing favourably.
