Thomas Henry Doyle
Noted in a piece about Shipley Education Committee that Cllr Doyle ‘has two sons – Capt (sic) Thomas Henry (King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry) and Pte Albert (6th West Yorks) – anxious to share the burden of their fellow men at the front. All honour to them and the respected Socialist member for the West Ward. Shipley Times & Express 25-12-1914
Shipley people generally will sympathise with Cllr T F and Mrs Doyloe in their anxiety concerning one of their soldier sons, T H Doyle who has been reported missing since May 8th. For six years before the outbreak of the present war he had been with his regiment, the 1st King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, in China. Last autumn the regiment returned to England and shortly afterwards proceeded to the Front. In a letter to Cllr Doyle, Capt Bond speaks highly of the missing soldier who was the crack shot of his company and thinks there is reason to hope that his name may yet figure in a list of prisoners captured by the enemy. Shipley Times & Express 13-8-1915
Pte T H Doyle of the 1st King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry has been missing since May 8th this year. He was wounded and was in hospital for about a month. His brother, Pte Albert Doyle, is at Retford with the Duke of Wellington’s West Riding Regt. These two soldiers are sons of Cllr T F Doyle, a member of the District Council, who has also three brothers-in-law with the Colours. Shipley Times & Express 22-10-1915
