The news of the award of the Military Medal to Pte A Foster of the Duke of Wellington’s Regt (Transport Section) and the son of Mr and Mrs Joseph Foster, who formerly resided at Little Hall Farm, Greengates, will be exceedingly popular with his many friends in the village. Pte Foster has been awarded the medal for ‘conveying provisions under heavy fire.’ He joined the army immediately after the outbreak of war in August 1914 and has been in France about two years. He is 22 year of age and before enlisting was employed by Messrs J Baxter and Sons of Holybrook Mills. Shipley Times & Express 16 March 1917
