Pte Norman Gilks of the Duke of Wellington’s Regiment, and the son of Mr and Mrs Joseph Gilks of 18 Esholt Lane, Baildon, has been killed in action. He had been in the army about five months and had only served in France three weeks. He was 19 years old. Shipley Times & Express 16-2-1917 In 1911 census Norman was a schoolboy living with his parents and three siblings at Low Mills, Guiseley and his father was a farm labourer. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission site give his address as Chevin End Farm, Guiseley.
