Edward Louis Holmes
The deepest sympathy will be felt by the people of the township of Cllr
and Mrs J Ward Holmes and family of Baildon in their bereavement.
Cpl Edward Louis Holmes, the youngest son of the family, joined the
Army Pay Corps in October 1914 and was transferred to the Norfolk
Yeomanry early in 1917.
After going out to Palestine he saw considerable fighting and contracted
pneumonia from which he died on 12th January.
In civil life, Cpl Holmes was employed by Adams & Co, shippers, of
Bradford, and previous to joining the colours he was a member of the
Shipley St Paul’s Church Choir.
He attended Otley Road Council School and Salt’s School, Shipley.
