William Meek
On 31 January 1919 the Shipley Times & Express reported that William
had died three days before the armistice was declared:
Information has been received from the War Office by Mrs Meek of 6
Spurr Road, Shipley, that her husband, Pte William Meek, West Yorkshire
Regt, was wounded on 1st November last and died on 8th November.
He was struck with shrapnel on the chest and abdomen and died at a
clearing station at the front in France.
He was a roadman for the Shipley Urban Council until he joined up in
November 1915.
He leaves a wife and four children for whom the deepest sympathy is felt
by a wide circle of people among whom the deceased was highly
respected for his many good qualities.
