Harold Robinson
The following item appeared in the Shipley
Times and Express on Friday 29 October
1915:
Pte Harold Robinson (2nd Bradford “Pals”)
son of Mr H Robinson, Chemist, Baildon, and
Nurse Edith Whitaker, daughter of Mr C
Whitaker, Northgate, Baildon, were married
by special licence at the Baildon Moravian
Church on Wednesday morning. The Rev J M
Birtill (pastor) officiated.
The bride, who was given away by her father,
was accompanied as bridesmaids by Miss
Elsie Robinson (sister of the bridegroom), Mrs
Edith Leeming and Miss Rachel Whitaker. The
best man was Mr Arthur Robinson (brother of
the bridegroom).
Both bride and bridegroom (pictured) are
serving their King and country and they went
through the honeymoon in uniform.
The bride is a member of the voluntary Aid
Detachment of the St John Ambulance
Association and is engaged at the Northern
General (base) Hospital, Leicester.
The bridegroom was formerly employed at
Messrs W N Sharpe & Co, Bradford. He was
well-known as a member of the Baildon FC
and Baildon Green CC.
