Willie Thompson
The only information we have so far about Willie
is from the 1901 census when he was five years
old and living with his parents, William, a
quarryman and Angelina, and his three siblings.
He is mentioned in an article on 22 October 1915
about the fact that his cousin, Mrs E Smith of 11
High Fold, Baildon, had her husband, a brother
and two cousins fighting in the war.
“Pte Willie Thompson, a cousin, who is 19 years
of age, joined the 2/6 West Yorks Regt. He was
formerly a member of the Baildon Villa
Association Football Club.”
The CWGC website confirms his parents’ names
and address, the date of his death and the fact that
he is remembered on the Arras Memorial.
