George Henry Topham
George Henry appears in the 1901 census, 17 years of age, living with his
estate agent father, his mother and sister and a house servant at 7 Hall
Royd, Shipley.
At some point before 1911 he appears to have emigrated to Canada where
he married Mabel Hilda Blake.
Like so many emigres, George returned to fight for his country and only
three days before the armistice the Shipley Times & Express reported:
Pte George Henry Topham, Duke of Connaught’s Own Regt, younger son
of Mr and Mrs Wilson Topham of 106 Ingleside Grove, Shipley, was
killed in action on 13th October.
