Tom Whitehead
On 12 October 1917, the Shipley Times & Express noted:
Pte Tom Whitehead of Baildon, is enjoying a holiday at home after more
than two years of foreign service.
Enlisting in the West Yorks Regt in February 1915, he trained at North
Shields and went out to Malta in August 1915 on garrison duty.
After completing his two years’ service in this capacity he was transferred
to France.
Previous to joining the colours, Pte Whitehead had almost completed his
apprenticeship with Mr Albert Halliday, ornamental ironworker, of
Baildon. He is 23 years of age.
